Benefits of

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning gives children the freedom to learn in a low stress environment and being out in nature is calming in itself for the children. This clip outlines the  many benefits for the children, teachers, parents and the school.

Learning Points

Outdoor Learning has benefits for the child, teacher, parent, and school.

  • For the children, it gives them the freedom in a low stress environment to move about and return to the same activity and refine their skills. They are more engaged and able to develop multiple skills such as social and emotional, problem solving and working together.

  • For the teachers, as Outdoor Learning is a continuous provision, they can focus on the needs of the children as the activities/learning unfold which ultimately raises standards.

  • For the parents, they know that their child is supported in a consistent and familiar learning setting throughout their primary school years as it is an ‘Outdoor Learning School’ and not solely for Foundation pupils.

  • For the schools, the ultimate benefit of engaged, calm, resilience children and a bonus of increased enrolment as the benefits are recognised by the school community.
