Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) in Northern Ireland.
A webinar was held on 27 September 2023 on the outcomes of the 2021 Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) in Northern Ireland. PIRLS is an independent worldwide research study which provides data about reading literacy. It takes place every five years and in addition to reading performance of pupils aged 9 to 10 years old collects pupils’ attitudes to reading and the school and home learning environments. In September and October 2021, Northern Ireland participated in PIRLS for the third time. In total, 4,050 pupils participated from 143 primary schools. The National report for PIRLS 2021 in Northern Ireland was published 16 May 2023.
